Tornado warnings are currently causing havoc in Minneappolis, where the Soundset Festival was seemingly postponed before Atmosphere could play. Reports on twitter seem to suggest 20000 people running for their lives.
Here’s a nice little compilation of footage from May 25th around the Russell County, Kansas area. This includes one of the most amazing rope tornadoes I’ve ever seen!
Just been upgraded to a Moderate risk of severe weather in the North East of the country. As you can see there is also a 10% area for tornadoes. Reed Timmer has forecast a potential “historic outbreak” for the Wisconsin area. Various people seem to be in agreement as it appears that there will be rapid low level winds egging on the atmosphere. We’ll see what plays out later
It’s a year to the day that a devastating EF5 tornado demolished Joplin. Even though I’ve never been there, the videos and pictures of that day fill me with an abundance of grief. Reading back through posts on message boards as more information came in is simply heartbreaking. As much as I love the idea and thrill of tornadoes, this is always fiercely counteracted by the destruction they are capable of. The picture on the left is a snapshot of hope taken in Joplin today.
The other day meterorologist proposed to his fellow meterorologist girlfriend. NOW I find a story about a coupe getting married in Kansas the other day (19/5/2012) and tornadoes appearing in their wedding photos. I literally don’t have any words.
I’ve fallen in love. Opie Deino is playing at the Slam Dunk festival this weekend. She’s being tagged as the “female Sheeran.” She’s great.
